Whilst I have always been interested in sketching and various forms of artwork, I am fascinated by the interaction of light with all types of glass. In particular, the ability of compositions to be constantly changing due to the varying light conditions of the day. I also very much like the fact that every work is truly unique, even from a similar design base, because every single piece of glass is individually selected for its colour and direction of pattern. To further add interest and variability, glass types can also be mixed and fused together for colour, texture and to add relief.
My interest in glass has developed over many years and I have attended and qualified in several courses, including City & Guilds. These courses included stained glass, glass painting, warm glass and hot glass work, allowing me to explore approaches and to extend the range of my work.
Recently, I have begun exploring multilayer fusing with glass powders to create detailed painterly images and incorporating fused glass within stained glass panels.
Since moving to Suffolk I joined various art groups and have exhibited at many venues.
Having attended many training courses myself, I am keen to ensure that the courses that I offer represent excellent value for money, give great results and are fun. Over the years, I constantly revise the approach and add to offerings based on feedback.
I believe that opportunities to use decorative glass today are excellent. Decorative glass is very versatile, allowing for a splash of colour in many forms, to accent any room in a way that no other medium can provide.
