The kiln

I am often asked about the kiln used on my courses, so here’s the details:

It is a Skutt Hotstart Pro, ideal for smaller scale full fusing, slumping, tack fusing and of course glass painting and staining.

It is very straightforward to use and has several in-built programmes which can be used ‘as-is’ or adjusted in timings and heat. It also has several ‘spaces’ for custom programming.

It typically costs less than £1 per kiln cycle.

I have had it for many years (and ‘tempting fate’ but have not needed any spares yet !) It is a great design – it is still manufactured and has spares readily available (and many instructional videos around).
